About Speech & Language Support Services
Speech Therapy in Redcliffe and Across Australia
At Speech & Language Support Services we provide speech therapy for toddlers, children, teenagers and young adults to help them reach their full comunication potential.
Founded in 2001 by Speech Pathologist Melinda Cassells, our practice began with a belief that every child deserves access to quality speech therapy — for as long as needed, without limits or waiting lists.
Our Story – How It All Began
I started Speech & Language Support Services in 2001 because I wanted to offer speech therapy in Redcliffe that truly met each child’s needs without limits or waiting lists.
Back then, I was frustrated by seeing so many children receive little to no service, or what I call “band-aid therapy.” Every child from a child with a mild lisp to a teenager with more complex communication difficulties deserves access to therapy for as long as they need it.
At first, I worked from home, creating a space where families felt comfortable and supported. Eventually, I ran out of room and time (a wonderful problem to have!), and with a “no waiting list” policy still firmly in place, I knew it was time to grow.
When we moved into our new home in Redcliffe, clients helped choose the paint colours that’s how our Big Blue House came to be. It’s warm, welcoming, and filled with laughter, tea, and connection. I wanted it to feel more like a lounge room than a clinic because therapy should never feel clinical it should feel like belonging.
Our Philosophy – Therapy Without Limits
From mild speech sound delays to severe communication challenges, every client has the right to therapy that meets their needs.
The dots in our motto, “Helping you achieve …”, represent whatever needs to be mastered. That will be different for everyone and we’re here to champion that journey.
Meet Melinda – Your Champion
When people ask me what I do, I often smile. “Speech Pathologist” never quite captures it. Yes, I help people say their sounds more clearly, but what I really do is help them find their voice, their confidence, their connection, their place in the world.
I’ve always believed that every child deserves a champion, someone who believes in them, won’t give up, and helps them achieve whatever they need to master.
That belief sits at the heart of our practice and in our motto: Helping you achieve…
Those dots represent whatever your child needs to achieve: speech, language, literacy, confidence, connection, whatever it takes.
“I’m your champion. I believe in you. I’ll never give up on helping you achieve your goals.”
Warmest wishes,
